Who We Are

We are a teeny team living the green life out on Lantau Island. We believe everyone has the right to a home they love and cherish; a space to feel calm and happy; and we believe everyone should be able to treat themselves to quality homeware. We also believe that resources should be valued beyond their price tag. Mass-produced items usually have hidden costs; the cost to the people being exploited in the chain, the cost to the environment, the cost to the animals in it. We produce completely unique items which have little to no impact on these issues, meaning you can have beautiful homeware without the guilt. And who wants a home that looks like everyone else’s anyway?

Eco Promise

In the last decade, awareness of the impact of fast fashion has become a prevalent talking point, but less is said about the waste produced by the homeware industry. Hong Kong sends more than 380 tonnes of wood and rattan, equivalent to almost 2,000 sofas, to municipal landfills every day*. Britain disposes of almost 70 million homeware items every year*. In the US, consumers are throwing out more than 12 million tons of furniture annually*. This two-fold issue not only creates enormous amounts of waste but also uses precious resources by demanding new products to replace the old. From deforestation to increased carbon emissions, ‘fast furniture’ is having immeasurable detrimental effects on the environment.

At Furniture Revolution, we go out of our way to ensure our products are as responsibly produced as possible. We aim to save items destined for landfill by exclusively sourcing second-hand pieces, minimise the resources we use & the waste we produce during the upcycling process, and to be transparent about our methods. From recycled packaging to low VOC water-based paints, we extend our eco-consciousness to every part of our business. We never use chemical strippers to remove paint, even though sanding is a far more time-consuming process. We are a tiny company who hand-produces each and every item here in Hong Kong and most of the production process can be seen in the videos on our Instagram page.
